Phishing: This is a global problem that banks around the world are facing. This is an attempt to ‘fish’ your banking details. Phishing can be an e-mail asking for confidential data like User ID and Transaction Password, One Time Password (OTP), Unique Reference Number (URN) etc. from a known institution like banks/a popular website.
Spear Phishing: This is a targeted phishing attempt via an e-mail that comes with a customized/personalized reference not only from a trusted source and will often be of relevance to current projects in development within the company, or May be related to family event.
Spoofing: These attacks refer to tricking or defrauding users by forging the identity of another user over email, phone, website, etc. Website spoofing is the act of creating a website with the intention of committing fraud, as a fraud. To legitimize spoof sites, phishers use the actual website name, logo, graphics, and even code. They can also fake the URL that appears in the address field at the top of your browser window and the padlock icon that appears in the lower right corner. Even the email can be spoofed to trick the victim into believing that it has been sent by a ‘trusted’ sender and the principal victim sharing sensitive information.
Vishing: This is a fraudster’s attempt to get confidential details from you over a phone call. Details like User ID, Login & Transaction Password, OTP (One Time Password), URN (Unique Registration Number), Card PIN, Grid Card Value, CVV or any personal parameter like Date of Birth, Mother’s First Name, Aadhaar. The fraudsters claim to represent banks on the pretext of helping customers with KYC/Aadhaar updation/verification/refund of amount/card activation/limit enhancement/card issuance etc and asking customers to provide their personal and financial details over the phone. try to cheat. By guiding them to collect unique access code for quick help/download any desk/team viewer/any other unknown mobile application and gain access to their mobile/system. The details collected through remote access will be used to carry out fraudulent activities on their account/card which may lead to financial loss.
Customers are requested to check the authenticity of the links or contact details of the Authorized Dealer/s while browsing through the freeware software available on the Internet. There are many fake contacts available on the internet and fraudsters can take advantage of this situation and mislead the customers to steal credit/debit/netbanking credentials either through vishing call or by controlling mobile/system through vishing remote access Huh. Customers are requested to stay safe on such spam and do not share or access any unknown links/mobile apps to prevent frauds.

SIM SWAP: Your mobile phone is a convenient banking channel. You can get the One Time Password (OTP) required to conduct account related alerts and banking transactions and make various financial inquiries through your mobile. However, if you don’t take some simple precautions, criminals can divert these alerts through your service provider by getting your original SIM replaced with a duplicate SIM, and attempting to commit fraud.

Smishing: This is a combination of short messaging service (SMS – also known as text messaging) and phishing (the act of emailing someone with the intention of obtaining personal information that can be used for identity theft). is a combination. In this case, the fraudster sends the message over SMS instead of email. The smishing message might look like “You have won 2 free tickets to an amusement park, visit this website to claim your prize”. Clicking on the link will take you to a website asking for personal information. These are becoming more common as smart phones become more popular.
Frauds through Social Networks: Social media sites are becoming increasingly popular even among fraudsters and celebrations are easy times to woo today’s youth. For example, the latest tool seen is an invite to install a “valentine theme” on one of the most popular social networking website. The Install button prompts the download of a malicious browser extension that monitors user activities. Sometimes users are redirected to a survey page asking them for important information like name, mobile number, credit/debit card credentials, OTP, ATM PIN etc.
